TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After two hours had passed, the meeting between Tirza Angelica and Chihoon Lee and several prosecutors on the 20th floor of the main building of the Attorney General's Office (AGO) on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, finally ended. Toward the close of the meeting, the prosecutors brought out stacks of Rp50,000 and Rp100,000 bills.

Two prosecutors and two other officers counted all the cash using a counting machine. The total came to Rp941 million (about US$56,000). Tirza and Lee, accompanied by their companions, watched the counting intently. The prosecutors then handed all the money to Tirza and Lee. The two returned to their office in South Tangerang, Banten.

A team from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) took Tirza and Lee into custody upon their arrival at the office. Neither was detained. Tirza and Lee's lawyer, Alghiffari Aqsa, said the arrest was part of a KPK sting operation in an extortion case targeting his clients. "We believe Tirza and Lee were victims of extortion by prosecutors," he told Tempo on Monday, January 5, 2026.

The KPK also arrested seven other people in the sting operation that day. One of them was Redy Zulkarnain, the prosecutor accused of extorting Tirza and Lee. He was arrested in Tangerang after Tirza and Lee received the return of money from prosecutors. Two other prosecutors, Rivaldo Valini and Herdian Maida Kesastria, were at the Banten High Prosecutor's Office at the time. They were arrested later.
