KPK Arrests Eight in North Jakarta Sting Operation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK arrested eight individuals in a sting operation in North Jakarta on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

"Confirmed, an operation in Jakarta area," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo when confirmed by Tempo on Saturday.

Budi did not elaborate further details about who were arrested, including the evidence seized, but confirmed that cash was indeed confiscated at the scene. 

"Up to this point, the team has secured eight individuals, along with cash as evidence," said Budi.

Budi mentioned that the detained individuals are currently undergoing intense questioning at the Red and White Building of the KPK, "The individuals will undergo intense questioning next," said Budi.

According to information, the sting operation targeted tax officials at the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes in North Jakarta.

The anti-graft agency then has 24 hours to determine the status of the arrested individuals.
