TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to meet with former Prime Minister (PM) of Australia Paul Keating as part of a state visit in Sydney, Australia, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Minister of Investment and Industry Upgrading Rosan Roeslani stated that they will meet to exchange ideas. The goal is to strengthen the future relationship between Indonesia and Australia.
"It's more of a meeting to exchange ideas and to understand how with input from Paul Keating, we can strengthen the relationship between Australia and Indonesia in the future," said Rosan in Sydney on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, as quoted from the president's communication team.
CEO of Danantara stated that Prabowo has known Keating for a long time. Keating has also provided a lot of input to Danantara. "Keating is one of the individuals who has provided a lot of input to Danantara," he said.
Prabowo departed for Sydney, Australia, on Tuesday afternoon, November 11, 2025. He arrived in Australia on Monday evening. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the one-day state visit would be filled with several important agendas.
"During this one-day visit, the President is scheduled to have a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, attend a state ceremony led by Australian Governor-General Sam Mostyn," said Teddy in his written statement on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
In addition, Teddy stated that during this visit, Prabowo would also attend several other meetings. These various meetings will discuss cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, education, and industrial partnership.
He mentioned that this visit to Sydney was a response to the visit of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to Indonesia. "This visit is also a form of reciprocation for the visit of Prime Minister Albanese to Jakarta last May, a day after he was re-elected as the Prime Minister of Australia," said Teddy.
During this bilateral visit, the President was accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Teddy Indra Wijaya. Prior to his departure, Prabowo led a closed-door limited cabinet meeting at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. The limited meeting was attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Deputy Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center Ivan Yustiavandana, and Teddy Indra Wijaya.
