TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national team's FIFA ranking has dropped after two FIFA Matchday games in September 2025. According to data on the Football Ranking website, Indonesia has fallen from 118 to 119.
During the international break in September, the Indonesian national team secured a 6-0 victory against Taiwan. However, during the second match at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, on Monday, September 8, 2025, Patrick Kluivert's Garuda squad had to settle for a goalless draw against Lebanon.
Indonesia only gained a total of 3.43 points from the two matches, with 3.25 obtained after the victory against Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), while the remaining 0.18 points came from the draw against Lebanon.
Indonesia is now ranked 119 with a total of 1,157.98 points. The Garuda squad is five places behind Vietnam, which is perched at 114 in the FIFA ranking. Thailand remains the best ASEAN country on the list at 101 with a total of 1,222.20 points.
Malaysia has moved up two places to 123 with a total of 1,148.23 points. The neighboring country's team has risen after defeating Palestine in the FIFA Matchday. Meanwhile, the Philippines is ranked 143, completing the top five ASEAN countries in terms of football.
The Indonesian national team will next compete in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Asian qualifiers in the Asian zone. The squad will face Saudi Arabia on October 8, 2025, and Iraq on October 11, 2025, in Jeddah.
At the top of the FIFA ranking, Spain has managed to surpass Argentina, who lost to Ecuador in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Conmebol zone, to claim the top spot. France closely follows in second place. Argentina is in third place, while England and Portugal are in the top five of the FIFA ranking.
