TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia’s national futsal team made history by reaching the semifinals of the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup, defeating Vietnam 3-2 in a thrilling quarterfinal match at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
This marks Indonesia’s best performance in the tournament, surpassing their 2022 campaign when the team was eliminated in the quarterfinals. Goals for Indonesia came from Wendy Brian Ick, Ardiansyah Nur, and Reza Gunawan, while Nguyen Da Hai scored both goals for Vietnam.
Indonesia will face Japan in the semifinals at Indonesia Arena on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 7:00 PM local time.
The match started strongly for the hosts, with Wendy Brian Ick opening the scoring in the fourth minute from a pass by Ardiansyah Nur.
Vietnam threatened with a shot from Nguyen Da Hai, but Indonesia’s goalkeeper Ahmad Habibie made a crucial save. In the 11th minute, Ardiansyah Nur converted a Rio Pangestu pass to make it 2-0.
Vietnam came close to reducing the deficit before halftime, but Vu Ngoc Anh’s shot missed the target.
In the second half, Vietnam increased the pressure, scoring in the 25th minute through Nguyen Da Hai to make it 2-1. Indonesia responded immediately, with Reza Gunawan scoring in the 26th minute to extend the lead to 3-1. Ahmad Habibie made two more key saves to deny Vietnam’s Chau Doan Phat.
Vietnam attempted a late comeback using a power-play strategy, and Nguyen Da Hai scored again in the 36th minute to narrow the gap to 3-2. Despite Vietnam’s persistent pressure, Indonesia held on for a historic victory.
