TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Head of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority Basuki Hadimuljono confirmed that the development of the new capital city in East Kalimantan is still ongoing.
He stated that the Budget Implementation List (DIPA) of the IKN for the new construction has been finalized.
"The budget for road paving and construction along the KIPP area has been finalized in our DIPA, with a budget of around Rp5.4 trillion from OIK. Then an additional Rp8.1 trillion for the judicial and legislative areas that will soon be worked on," said Basuki, quoted from an official statement on Sunday, April 20, 2025.
As a result, the IKN development budget for this year has reached Rp13.5 trillion. Basuki also called on all service providers to promptly deploy their workforce.
In addition, Basuki assured that all remaining follow-up projects will be completed, including the airport, toll roads, the Vice President’s Palace, mosque, and other infrastructure that has been contracted under multi-year agreements.
"The budget is already available in the Ministry of Public Works," he said.
Previously, Basuki stated that the second phase of IKN development has begun. According to him, the bidding process, handover, and subsequent work implementation will be carried out soon.
"I don't think there is any reason not to continue the development of IKN," said Basuki in a coordination meeting and evaluation of infrastructure development implementation in IKN on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, quoted by Tempo from an official statement.
"President Prabowo has also stated that the development and construction of IKN are included in the National Strategic Project."
Basuki mentioned that the continuation of IKN’s development will be carried out under ministerial governance. The former Minister of Public Works and Public Housing also reaffirmed the commitment of the IKN Authority and all relevant stakeholders to advance the legacy project initiated by former President Joko Widodo.
In the meantime, IKN Spokesperson Troy Pantouw stated that the design phase for legislative and judicial buildings is nearing completion. Once finalized, the project will move forward to the construction bidding stage.
"The bidding is expected to take place around May or June 2025," said Troy to Tempo on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
