Depok Mayor Enforces 9 PM Student Curfew Following Dedi Mulyadi's Directive

1 day ago 3

TEMPO.CO, Depok - Depok Mayor Supian Suri announced the enforcement of a student curfew starting Wednesday, June 3, 2025, as part of a West Java provincial initiative introduced by Governor Dedi Mulyadi. The curfew follows Circular Letter No: 51/PA.03/DISDIK on the Establishment of a Student Curfew, signed on May 23, 2025.

"God willing, tomorrow we can start implementing it," said Supian after serving as Inspector of the Pancasila Day Commemoration Ceremony at the Divif 1 Kostrad Cilodong headquarters in Depok on Tuesday, June 2, 2025.

Supian explained that the curfew aims to foster greater discipline among students and reduce nighttime risks. He raised concerns about youth being outdoors past 09:00 PM WIB.

"It means they must truly be at home by 9 and no longer outside for 'unproductive' matters," said Supian.

He added that the policy is supported by local authorities, including the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the National Police (Polri).

"This is our spirit in the city of Depok with the support of Forkopimda and the TNI-Polri of course," Supian added.

Enforcement will be carried out collaboratively at the local level, involving sub-district officials, neighborhood units, military and police personnel, and community leaders.

Governor Dedi Mulyadi has instructed all regional leaders to coordinate curfew implementation down to the village level. He also emphasized that the provincial government will not provide financial support to students caught engaging in violence during curfew hours.

"After the governor imposes the curfew, if a West Java student is involved in a fight, brawl, and then has to be admitted to the hospital, the West Java Provincial Government will not assist in financing," said Dedi Mulyadi.
