TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Barcelona is on the verge of the 2025/2026 La Liga title after defeating hosts Osasuna 2-1 in a match held at El Sadar Stadium in Pamplona early Sunday morning WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
According to La Liga website, Barcelona's victory was secured thanks to a three-goal thriller late in the second half. The Blaugrana scored through Robert Lewandowski (81') and Ferran Torres (86'), while Osasuna narrowed the gap with a Raul Garcia goal (88').
This victory solidifies Barcelona's position at the top of the La Liga standings this season with 88 points from 34 matches, with four remaining league matches remaining.
They are now 14 points ahead of their closest rivals in second place, Real Madrid, who trail with 74 points from 33 matches.
Thus, if Real Madrid loses or draws their match against Espanyol on Monday (May 4) early morning WIB, Barcelona will be crowned champions of the 2025/2026 La Liga.
The Osasuna-Barcelona match was intense from the start. In the first half, Barcelona had several chances, including an effort from Lewandowski, but none were converted.
Osasuna also had chances, such as Ante Budimir's shot that couldn't beat Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia.
After halftime, Barcelona continued to pin the hosts back. Around the 50th minute, midfielder Daniel "Dani" Olmo's close-range shot was blocked by Osasuna defender Alejandro Catena.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 81st minute, when Lewandowski successfully got his name on the scoresheet after finishing a Marcus Rashford pass.
Just five minutes later (86'), Barcelona doubled their lead. Taking advantage of a misplaced possession by an Osasuna player, Fermin Lopez quickly delivered a perfect pass to Ferran Torres, who converted it.
Down by two goals, Osasuna refused to give up. The hosts managed to strike back in the 88th minute with a header from Raul Garcia.
After that, both teams searched for a goal, but the score remained unchanged until the end of the match. Barcelona won 2-1.
