TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The long Eid holiday is over. Returning to the work routine can be challenging. One of the causes of decreased productivity after the holiday is a disorganized sleeping pattern.
Some people are accustomed to sleeping and waking up later during the holiday, making it difficult to return to a normal sleep schedule when starting work.
This disruption can lead to fatigue, poor focus, and a lack of motivation, further complicating the transition back to daily responsibilities.
Reestablishing Sleep Patterns
To restore a productive work rhythm after the holiday, reestablishing a healthy sleep pattern is crucial.
Irregular sleep can negatively affect both physical and mental well-being, leading to issues such as poor concentration, mood swings, and a higher risk of chronic illnesses like diabetes and heart disease.
According to Dr. Dini Anggraeni, Head of the Tangerang City Health Office in Banten, one effective way to reset sleep routines is by minimizing screen time before bedtime.
"People's habit after the holiday is finding it difficult to wake up. Try resetting the sleeping pattern by reducing screen exposure before bed, so that you can wake up early to start activities," said Dini on Sunday, April 6, 2025, as quoted from Antara.
Furthermore, she said, maintaining a healthy lifestyle with sufficient sleep, eating healthy food, and staying physically active is important. This is because after the Eid holiday, feelings of laziness, loss of enthusiasm, and difficulty focusing often arise.
Tips for Regaining Work Rhythm After the Holidays
Dini explains that it's normal to feel out of sync after a holiday, as the body and mind need time to readjust to regular routines. One helpful approach is to ease back into work gradually.
"Avoid jumping into heavy tasks right away. Start by reviewing work slowly, organizing your workspace, or creating a to-do list to help things feel more manageable," she suggested.
She also recommended planning something enjoyable to reignite motivation. "For example, spending time with friends or engaging in fun activities to refresh your mind," Dini added.
Another thing is to practice self-compassion, which is to remind oneself that it takes time to return to normal rhythm.
"Don't blame yourself if you feel sad or tired after the holiday. Acknowledge those feelings and give yourself time to readapt," she said.
An irregular sleeping pattern can also have a negative impact on physical and mental health, including decreased concentration, mood disturbances, and an increased risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disorders.
