TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - There has been a recurrence of the free nutritious meal (MBG) poisoning in Mlati Sub-District, Sleman, Central Java. However, this time it involves a different Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG/kitchen) compared to the previous MBG poisoning case.

"An indication of the alleged case occurred in a different SPPG," said Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Body, Nanik S. Deyang, to Tempo on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Nanik explained that the case in August did indeed occur in Mlati Sub-District, Sleman, but it took place in Tlogoadi Village. As for the case this week, it happened in Sinduadi Village.

On Friday, October 24, hundreds of students from Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 3 (high school), SMP Negeri 2 Mlati (junior high school), and SD Jombor Lor (elementary school) were taken to the Public Health Center (Puskesmas) due to suspected poisoning symptoms, such as dizziness and diarrhea, after consuming the free nutritious meal for breakfast that morning.

Previously, 135 students and 2 teachers at SMP Negeri 3 Berbah, Sleman, were suspected of being poisoned after consuming the MBG meal on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The incident on August 27 occurred just two weeks after a mass poisoning suspected to be caused by consuming the MBG meal was experienced by students from four schools in Mlati Sub-District, Sleman. The four schools were SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Mlati, SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Mlati, SMP Negeri 3 Mlati, and SMP Pamungkas Mlati.

Last month, the Health Agency of Sleman Regency revealed that out of the dozens of SPPGs directly involved in the MBG program in 17 sub-districts in Sleman, not a single one had obtained the Hygiene and Sanitation Eligibility Certificate (SLHS) issued by the local government.

"Out of the 66 SPPGs, not a single one has the SLHS certificate," said the Head of the Health Resources Division of the Sleman Health Agency, Tunggul Birowo, on Monday, September 29, 2025.

According to Tunggul, the operators of these SPPGs have never coordinated with the local government, but instead directly with the National Nutrition Body (BGN). "Initially, these SPPGs went directly to the service; we (the local government) didn't know the reason, but suddenly, there were so many SPPGs emerging," he said.
