TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -  Indonesia's Aceh Regional Police has established 94 drug-free villages (KBDN) across all regencies and cities. The Aceh Police Chief Inspector General Marzuki Ali Barsyah stated that these villages could serve as centers for narcotics education and early detection by involving the community.

"Narcotics not only damage health, but also destroy morality, ruin family economies, and become a source of various social crimes in society. Therefore, there must be a joint commitment to combat it," said Marzuki in his written statement on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

Marzuki stated that Aceh is a strategic and open area that has become a target for drug trafficking. Hence, community involvement in prevention efforts is increasingly crucial.

According to him, the Aceh Regional Police also enforces the law without compromise against narcotics distribution networks. Every large-scale case is followed up to the stage of money laundering (TPPU) to cut off the flow of criminal proceeds and provide a deterrent effect for the perpetrators.

The Aceh Regional Police also promotes cross-sector collaboration between local governments, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the Indonesian National Armed Forces and National Police (TNI-Polri), religious leaders, community figures, and the education sector to strengthen environmentally and family-oriented prevention. According to him, apart from law enforcement, efforts in prevention, empowerment, and rehabilitation are also equally important.
