TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is suspending 717 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs) in Eastern Indonesia, as part of the food safety standards implementation in the free nutritious meal (MBG) program. The kitchens are suspended due to failure to register their Hygiene and Sanitation Certificate (SLHS).
According to BGN's monitoring, out of a total of 4,219 registered SPPGs, 2,138 kitchens have obtained SLHS, 1,364 are in the process of registering, while 717 kitchens have not registered at all.
The unlicensed kitchens are spread across several provinces, including West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and even in Maluku and some areas in Papua.
Rudi Setiawan, the Director of Monitoring and Supervision of BGN Region III, underscored the necessity of SLHS to ensure the MBG kitchens meet the food hygiene and safety standards for the beneficiaries of the program.
"We will temporarily suspend SPPGs that have not yet registered SLHS until they fulfill this obligation. This is not only enforcement but also a step to ensure that the distribution process meets the established hygiene and sanitation standards," said Rudi in a written statement on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
According to Rudi, SLHS standards are an important instrument in maintaining the quality of free nutritious meals distributed to millions of beneficiaries. The license ensured that the kitchens have undergone sanitation feasibility inspections by local health authorities.
BGN noted that most SPPGs have committed to meeting these standards, as shown by the number of MBG kitchens that have already registered or are in the process of registering for the certificates.
"We urge all SPPG managers who have not registered to promptly obtain SLHS through local health offices. Once the registration process is completed, we will observe until the certificate is issued to allow for standardized operations," Rudi added.
