TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As the long weekend ahead of Vesak Day approaches, the operator of the Whoosh high-speed trail, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) opens additional ticket counters for direct Whoosh ticket purchases.
On Friday, May 9, 2025, the high-speed rail recorded over 22,000 passengers, up 20 percent compared to normal weekdays.
General Manager Corporate Secretary of KCIC Eva Chairunisa explained that by Saturday morning, May 10, 2025, 17,000 more tickets had been sold, with peak estimates of 24,000 tickets sold expected from both online and direct purchases.
According to Eva, KCIC made additional service counters during the long weekend to ensure smooth services during the rush season. "In response to the surge of passengers during the long weekend," she said in an official statement on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
At Halim Station, the number of counters has been increased from 4 to 5, all of which are located on the 1st floor.
Meanwhile, at Padalarang Station, the number of counters was increased from 3 to 4, with the additional counter located on the 2nd floor to facilitate the exchange and purchase of Frequent Whoosher Cards. The decision was made to provide easier access for passengers aboard the feeder train without having to visit the 1st floor counter.
As is known, Whoosh was inaugurated by the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, on October 2, 2023.
Since its operation commenced on October 17, 2023, until the end of April 2025, the Whoosh high-speed rail has carried 9 million passengers.
This number includes 1.2 million passengers in 2023, 6.1 million passengers in 2024, and 1.8 million passengers until April 28, 2025.
