TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - On Thursday, Singapore welcomed the Asia Pacific premiere of Wicked: For Good with a vibrant yellow carpet. Yet the excitement quickly turned unsettling when an infamous crasher known as “Pyjama Man” harassed Ariana Grande, leaving the singer visibly shaken. The incident prompted immediate reactions from security, fans, and co-star Cynthia Erivo. The man was later identified as Johnson Wen.
This was far from the first time the 25-year-old Australian, who goes by “Pyjama Man” online, had drawn controversy. According to International Business Times and Daily Mail UK, Wen has become synonymous with harassing and pranking celebrities, regularly posting such acts across his TikTok and Instagram accounts.
Labeled a “pitch invader,” Pyjama Man recently crashed The Weeknd’s Melbourne show in August and was tackled by security at The Chainsmokers’ concert in Sydney in July. Earlier in June, he also stormed the stage at Katy Perry’s concert in Sydney.
Wen’s disruptive behavior extends beyond musicians and actors. He has previously delayed the 100m final at the Paris 2024 Olympics, disrupted the Cricket World Cup in 2023, and even attempted to streak across the field during the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
At the Singapore premiere, Pyjama Man wore a white T-shirt and shorts, and had long black hair accented by distinctive blue streaks. He leaped over the barricade separating stars from fans and quickly wrapped his arm around Grande, who was walking down the carpet alongside co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Michelle Yeoh. Grande immediately appeared to struggle, prompting Erivo to react instinctively by rushing forward to block him and seemingly shouting at him.
Although Pyjama Man was detained by security, he later updated his Instagram Story claiming he was “free after being arrested.” He even posted an eerie clip of the incident on his Instagram feed, captioned, “@arianagrande @wickedmovie Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me jump on the yellow carpet with you.”
The incident has sparked widespread outrage online, with many questioning the security protocols in place for such a high-profile event.
