TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two Indonesian women’s doubles pairs, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari and Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum, have advanced to the semifinals of the BWF World Tour Super 500 Australian Open 2025.

Both pairs secured their spots after winning their quarterfinal matches at Quaycentre, Olympic Boulevard, Sydney, on Friday, November 21, 2025.

Ana/Trias Reach First Semifinal Together

Febriana/Meilysa, widely known as Ana/Trias, progressed with a convincing 21-11, 21-16 victory over Japan’s Rui Hirokami/Sayaka Hobara. The result was particularly special as it marks their first semifinal appearance since forming their partnership.

Alhamdulillah (Thank God), we’re grateful for the win and for reaching our first semifinal,” Trias said in a statement released by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI).

Febriana acknowledged the strength of their opponents, who have shown consistent results in top-tier tournaments this season. “They are a strong pair and have reached a high level this year. We understood their strengths well,” she said.

Despite the solid performance, Ana/Trias said they remain focused on improving ahead of their semifinal match on Saturday.

They will face another Japanese pair, Ririna Hiramoto/Kokona Ishikawa, who earlier defeated Taiwan’s Hsu Ya Ching/Sung Yu Hsuan 22-20, 21-10.

Rachel/Febi Defeat Senior Pair Apri/Fadia

Indonesia’s second semifinal berth was secured by Rachel/Febi, who beat their senior training partners Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti 21-10, 21-19.

Rachel and Febi opened aggressively with fast attacks and tight placements that left Apri/Fadia struggling in the first game.

The second game was more competitive, but Rachel/Febi maintained focus to close out the match. “Thank God we won. We came in with a clear plan. Since we train with them at the national camp, we already know their playing style and shot patterns,” Rachel said.

Febi noted that the semifinal is not the final target. “We are happy to reach the semifinals, but it’s still not enough. We have to prepare again for tomorrow,” she said.

Rachel/Febi will next face the American duo Francesca Corbett/Jennie Gai, who are in strong form after eliminating several seeded opponents.

“Against Gai/Corbett, we need to strengthen our defense because they have many variations in attack, and we must be ready for the physical demand,” Febi said.

Rachel added, “We will review their previous patterns and make adjustments based on the court conditions here.”
