TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - US President Donald Trump claims that if a deal is reached with Iran, the US will take Iran's enriched uranium.
When asked by reporters how the US would obtain Iran's enriched uranium, which has been a source of dispute between the two countries for years, he said, "It's very easy."
Stating that the latest round of talks between Washington and Tehran occurred late Sunday—a claim disputed by Iran—Trump told reporters before departing for a trip to the southern US: "They want very much to make a deal. We'd like to make a deal too."
Claiming that it is "very hard" for Iranian officials to leave the country, Trump also said that US and Iranian officials will meet in person "very, very soon."
In his announcement this morning about a five-day pause in attacks on Iran's energy facilities, the US president said, "We'll see how that goes, and if it goes well, we're going to end up with settling this. Otherwise, we just keep bombing our little hearts out."
