TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – United States (US) President Donald Trump said on Saturday, August 1, 2026, that he was canceling plans for a military strike against Iran after Tehran and other Middle Eastern countries requested time to finalize the framework for a peace deal.

Trump also mentioned that Israel had joined the commitment, as reported by Antara.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump claimed that all parties had agreed to the limits of a potential deal that included the immediate, full, and total reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to the Iranian nuclear threat.

Trump said he agreed to cancel the strike “in the interest of the world’s future and also in the interest of a successful and prosperous Iran.”

However, he emphasized that the decision was contingent on all parties being able to “quickly reach an agreement.”

“The United States is ready and prepared to launch an attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran, with a level of military power, firepower, and capability not seen since World War II,” Trump wrote.

He also said Israel had agreed to the commitment to delay the strike.

“All parties, get to work and get this done,” Trump added.
