TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Papua National Liberation Army – Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM) has alleged that Indonesian military forces recently carried out an airstrike involving bomb drops. The incident reportedly took place on Friday, April 25, 2025, in Puncak Regency, Papua.
"The Indonesian military deployed four helicopters and conducted bomb attacks from the air," TPNPB-OPM spokesperson Sebby Sambom claimed in a written statement on Sunday, April 27.
Sebby said that he received information regarding the airstrike from the Commander of the Sinak Defense Regional Command (Kodap), Maj. Gen. Lekagak Telenggen. Fortunately, the bombing did not result in any casualties, particularly among civilians. "No TPNPB members or local residents were hit," he said.
According to Sebby, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) continue to carry out military operations across Papua. In addition to the alleged airstrike, TPNPB-OPM reported the arrival of four helicopters and two fighter jets belonging to the TNI, delivering logistical supplies.
"They brought logistics from Timika for Indonesian military troops, including cigarettes, cameras, mineral water, and other goods," Sebby said.
However, Sebby claimed that the pilots mistakenly landed in an area controlled by TPNPB-OPM. As a result, all of the logistical supplies were burned. "The TPNPB forces only took the camera," he said.
Previously, Sebby also accused TNI troops of infiltrating schools in Papua. One such incident was reportedly recorded in Maybrat Regency.
"The TNI Task Force Yonif 501/BY entered schools in Kampung Sorry," said Sebby Sambom in his statement, as quoted by Tempo on Sunday, April 27.
Sebby even claimed that TNI personnel entered the schools carrying assault rifles. He further alleged that the soldiers interrogated students regarding TPNPB-OPM operations.
"(The TNI) asked several questions to the schoolchildren about the whereabouts of TPNPB forces in the Maybrat area," Sebby said.
According to him, similar incidents occurred not only in Maybrat but also in other regions, including in the Ilaga District, Puncak Jaya Regency.
