The following is the list of the top 3 news on Tempo English today:

1. Bali Tightens Rules for Foreign Tourists

The Provincial Government of Bali has tightened regulations for foreign tourists visiting the island through Circular No. 7 of 2025, which outlines a revised code of conduct. Governor Wayan Koster said the circular specifies obligations, prohibitions, and potential sanctions for foreign visitors while staying in Bali.

Koster said that the new guidelines refine a similar circular issued in 2023, adjusted to reflect changes during his temporary absence from office.

Among the key rules, tourists are required to dress modestly, appropriately, and respectfully—especially when visiting sacred sites, tourist attractions, public spaces, or engaging in activities around Bali. Tourists are also expected to behave respectfully at temples, tourist destinations, restaurants, shopping areas, roadways, and other public areas.

2. Attempted Netanyahu-Trump Meeting Ends in Failure

When meeting Donald Trump on February 5, 2025, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu brought promises and full support from the U.S. president in managing the conflict in Gaza.

Netanyahu praised Trump as the "greatest friend Israel has ever had." He said that the U.S. president's Gaza plan could "change history" and was worth "paying attention to," as quoted by NDTV.

He also lauded Trump's "great force and powerful leadership" in sealing the early ceasefire agreement, and indirectly criticized former President Joe Biden, who had a tense relationship with Trump regarding the Gaza death toll.

3. Trump Strikes Back: China Faces New 125% Import Tariffs

President of the United States (US), Donald Trump has stated that he will soon raise the import tariffs on products originating from China to 125 percent. He made the statement on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, as the trade dispute between Washington and Beijing intensifies.

"Based on China's lack of respect for the global market, I hereby raise the United States' tariffs on China to 125 percent, effective immediately," Trump said in his post on the Truth Social platform.

Trump also criticized China to promptly become aware and not to 'play around' with the US.

"One day, hopefully in the near future, China will realize that the times of deceiving the United States and other countries are no longer acceptable and cannot be sustained," he said.
