TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - SpaceX through Starlink offers a 12-month residential service package that reduces the price of a satellite dish and router, usually US$349 in the U.S., to zero dollars in certain markets, without increasing the monthly fee.
Customers have 30 days to test or return the devices for a full refund, but there are some terms to consider after that.
Starlink Internet Subscription Discount
As quoted from The Verge, if you change your service address or cancel the service, for example, you will be charged the same change fee as the hardware cost, but prorated over time.
Some customers will also incur an additional one-time request fee of around US$100 in areas where Starlink experiences high usage.
However, for many, this may be a great offer. For example, users in the Netherlands, the Standard Kit is priced at 349 euros, under the normal 50 euros per month Residential package. The new 12-month commitment package lowers the hardware cost to zero euros without raising the monthly fee.
The change fee is listed at 349 euros. SpaceX calculates and finds that attracting more monthly customers by reducing the entry barrier outweighs any losses on the hardware side.
The 12-month residential package has been quietly advertised in several countries over the past month, but now Starlink is promoting it globally. This package is available in select markets in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as across Europe.
In Croatia, this package only applies to the smaller and slower Starlink Mini device.
