TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto escorted King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on his departure from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base (Lanud) in Jakarta on Saturday, November 15, 2025. The President accompanied King Abdullah II to the Jordanian state aircraft at the base.
Footage from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel showed President Prabowo and King Abdullah II arriving in the same car at Lanud Halim at approximately 12:00 p.m. WIB. Prabowo wore a cream safari suit and a blue cap, while King Abdullah II was dressed in a military uniform with a red beret.
A blue-carpeted walkway led from the vehicle to the aircraft. An honor guard was formed beneath the aircraft stairs to escort the King's return.
Prior to boarding the aircraft, King Abdullah II extended greetings to several high-ranking Indonesian officials. These included Deputy Governor of Jakarta Rano Karno, Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani, Foreign Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Government Communication Bureau Chief Angga Raka Prabowo, and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
Subsequently, King Abdullah II and President Prabowo proceeded to the area beneath the aircraft's fuselage. They shared an embrace, a mutual gesture of respect, before King Abdullah II boarded the Jordanian state aircraft. His subsequent departure was ceremoniously escorted by Indonesian Air Force F-16 fighter jets, symbolizing Indonesia's commitment to diplomatic protocol.
King Abdullah II concluded a state visit to Indonesia on Friday, November 14, 2025. This visit was a return visit following President Prabowo's trip to Jordan several months prior. At that time, President Prabowo had revealed his long-standing friendship with King Abdullah II, noting they had known each other since they were young.
"Indeed, old friends, back when we were still young," Prabowo said in Amman, Jordan, as seen on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Monday, April 14, 2025.
During this recent visit, King Abdullah II conferred an award upon Prabowo. The medals were the Bejewelled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda (Order of the Renaissance) and the Order of Al Nahda.
Additionally, both leaders reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to advocate for the independence of Palestine.
"Our relationship is deeply rooted in a strong brotherhood and friendship, as well as in sustained solidarity towards the struggle of the Palestinian people for their independence," Prabowo Subianto said in a statement from the President's Media Team in Jakarta.
The head of state further stated that the relationship between Indonesia and Jordan is more than just an ordinary diplomatic tie, but a brotherhood that has been established for more than seven decades. Prabowo emphasized that both nations continue to stand in moral and political solidarity in support of the Palestinian people's struggle.
