TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian police found a match of evidence in the house of the suspected perpetrator of the explosion at SMAN 72 Jakarta with the crime scene. "Several matches of evidence found were taken, including matches found in the house, it turns out there are matches from several pieces of evidence," said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police Commissioner, Budhi Hermanto, at Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
One of them is the evidence of powder that was also seized at the crime scene at the school located in the Kelapa Gading area, North Jakarta. However, Budhi could not confirm whether the powder is the same as the one found at the crime scene.
The details of the discovery will be announced by the Indonesian National Police Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor Polri). "In the near future, the police chief will conduct a comprehensive release from all units," he said.
In handling the case of the SMAN 72 explosion, the Jakarta Metro Police also collaborated with the Indonesian National Police's Densus 88, Puslabfor Mabes Polri, and North Jakarta Metro Police. In addition to conducting crime scene investigations, the police also searched the house of the suspected perpetrator. The items seized by the police from the crime scene include toy weapons and powder that can trigger explosions.
As of November 8, 2026, the number of explosion victims has reached 96 people, 29 of whom are still being treated in hospitals. They are spread across Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital with 14 people, Yasir Hospital with 14 people, and one person at Pertamina Hospital.
Budhi stated that the suspected perpetrator of the explosion at SMAN 72 Jakarta is now conscious after the operation on the head. However, the child still needs recovery in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). "He is conscious, but it needs to be gradual. Because the physical recovery is still heavy, we must pay attention to the medical and psychological recovery of the person," he said.
