TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The President Director of PT PLN (Persero) Darmawan Prasodjo stated that affordable energy could open new investment opportunities in Indonesia.

"With the presence of affordable energy, there will be new investments, and these new investments will create job opportunities," said Darmawan during the Kompas100 CEO Forum held at the Indonesia Convention Center (ICE) BSD in Tangerang Selatan, Banten, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Furthermore, he stated that the balance between economic growth, job creation, absorption, and environmental sustainability is crucial for Indonesia.

PLN, Darmawan mentioned, requires an investment of around Rp3,000 trillion to carry out the Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025-2034, which serves as the foundation for accelerating the national energy transition and independence.

Darmawan mentioned that the 2025-2034 RUPTL sets a power capacity addition of 69.5 gigawatts, with 76 percent of it based on renewable energy sources (EBT).

He added that the realization of RUPTL will create a large number of job opportunities, strengthen energy resilience, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and drive the transition from imported energy towards domestic energy.

The development of the system, Darmawan said, requires the construction of a 48,000-kilometer transmission network and 109,000 MegaVolt-Amperes (MVA) of substations. The total investment requirement is Rp3,000 trillion over ten years.

"Therefore, we need to build a conducive ecosystem for investment and collaboration," said Darmawan.

He continued, this collaboration among various stakeholders is important in facing the challenges related to national and international sustainable energy and the economy. These challenges range from strategies and innovations to human resource competencies.

"And in this aspect, the government is ready to support the establishment of an ecosystem for everyone to be more productive and be able to work together," Darmawan also stated.
