PLN Indonesia Power Eyes 495 MW Solar Plant Project in Bangladesh

2 hours ago 2

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PLN Indonesia Power is exploring ways to expand its renewable energy business internationally by developing solar power plants (PLTS) in Bangladesh. The project has a total potential capacity of up to 495 megawatts (MW).

The first step in the collaboration was the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between PLN Indonesia Power and Bay Group, a major Bangladeshi conglomerate.

The President Director of PLN Indonesia Power, Bernadus Sudarmanta, stated that this collaboration aligns with the Bangladesh Power Development Board's plan to open PLTS projects in 10 strategic locations across various regions of Bangladesh.

"Through this collaboration, PLN Indonesia Power has the opportunity to participate in the tender process and expand its business portfolio in the clean energy sector," said Bernadus, as quoted in a written statement on Friday, May 15, 2026.

In this project, Bay Group has appointed its subsidiary, Copenhagen Urban Solar Parks BD LTD (CUSP), as the development partner. CUSP is an affiliate company of Denmark-Bangladesh that focuses on solar energy development.

Bernadus stated that this collaboration is part of the company's strategy to strengthen its position in the global market, particularly in the renewable energy sector.

According to him, involving PLN Indonesia Power in the PLTS project in Bangladesh reflects the company's commitment to supporting the global energy transition and strengthening its position in the renewable energy industry.

"This is our first project in Bangladesh. We hope that this project runs smoothly. This collaboration is a strategic step for the company to strengthen its position in the global market," said Bernadus.
