TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The AI-based writing feature on LinkedIn has yet to gain traction among its users. LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky acknowledged that the platform's AI tool, which is designed to assist in writing resumes and posts, has not been widely embraced.
According to a report by TechCrunch on Sunday, June 22, 2025, Roslansky explained that the platform’s high professional standards play a role in this trend. On LinkedIn, every post is perceived as a reflection of an individual's skills, similar to a CV or professional portfolio.
Using AI-generated text is seen as a potential risk, particularly in professional contexts such as job applications or career networking. “If you are criticized on X or TikTok, that’s one thing. However, if you are criticized on LinkedIn, it truly affects your ability to create economic opportunities for yourself,” Roslansky said.
As described by Tech Target, LinkedIn is a professional social networking platform tailored for the global business community. Its primary purpose is to help users build and maintain professional networks. It also functions as a job search engine, company research hub, source of industry updates, and a platform for online training.
LinkedIn’s AI Features
LinkedIn has introduced several AI tools aimed at helping users stay competitive in the job market. One feature allows job seekers to use natural language commands when searching for positions. For instance, as demonstrated in a blog by LinkedIn Chief Product Officer Tomer Cohen, a user might type, “find me a remote marketing job in Detroit with a minimum salary of 110,000 dollars.”
The platform also offers AI-powered resume reviews. Users can upload their CVs and receive customized feedback tailored to specific job postings. In addition, there is an AI assistant available to help users write cover letters from scratch.
These tools, however, are only accessible to premium subscribers and are currently available only in English.
LinkedIn has also started testing AI personas modeled after real-life business experts. These personas allow users to engage in professional discussions on various topics.
“The responses you receive are trained by experts and designed as a tailored insights blend to meet each user’s unique needs,” said Cohen. Among the experts featured in the project are Alicia Reece, Anil Gupta, Gemma Leigh Roberts, and Lisa Gates.
