TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Super 500 Kumamoto Masters 2025 enters the semifinal round today, Saturday, November 15, with Gregoria Mariska Tunjung standing as Indonesia’s sole remaining contender.
Gregoria secured her place in the final four after a hard-fought win over Japan’s Asuka Takahashi on Friday, coming from behind to claim victory 16–21, 21–14, 21–13. The Indonesian fourth seed admitted the match was far from easy.
“My opponent played very well, and it wasn’t easy for me to score points,” she said after the match.
With her semifinal spot confirmed, Gregoria said she is keeping her focus on the immediate challenge rather than thinking ahead. She will face Taiwan’s Chiu Pin-Chian today and plans to review her quarterfinal performance while studying her opponent’s style of play.
Known to fans as Jorji, the 26-year-old is now Indonesia’s only hope for a title in Kumamoto after the country’s four other representatives were eliminated earlier.
Men’s singles players Alwi Farhan and Moh Zaki Ubaidillah, women’s singles shuttler Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi, and the women’s doubles pair Apriyani Rahayu / Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti all exited before the semifinals.
