TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to pursue Harun Masiku in connection with the bribery case involving Wahyu Setiawan, the former Commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU) for the 2017–2022 period.

The anti-corruption body stated its commitment to resolving the case, despite President Prabowo Subianto granting amnesty to the Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto.

“The KPK is committed to continuing the search and will involve various law enforcement agencies and members of the public who may know the whereabouts of the individual,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the agency’s Red and White Building in South Jakarta on Friday, August 1, 2025.

Regarding the amnesty granted to Hasto, Budi said that the KPK is still waiting for the official letter from President Prabowo before taking further action. “We are still awaiting the letter for the follow-up,” he added.

The KPK stated that it had completed all legal procedures in handling Hasto’s case and had presented strong evidence showing that he bribed Wahyu Setiawan. “This means that the evidence collected by our colleagues at the KPK has been validated by the panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court,” Budi said.

Previously, Hasto was sentenced to three years and six months in prison by the Jakarta Corruption Court. However, just seven days after the verdict was read, President Prabowo granted him amnesty.

The amnesty also covered 1,116 other inmates, as outlined in Presidential Letter Number R42/Pres 07.2025 dated July 30, 2025. The proposal for amnesty, including for Hasto and other inmates, received approval from the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR).

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, confirmed that the legislature held a consultation meeting with the government. The meeting was attended by Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas and Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi.

“Approval for the amnesty of 1,116 convicted individuals, including Hasto Kristiyanto, has been granted,” Dasco said at a press conference at the Senayan Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Thursday evening, July 31, 2025.

At the same press conference, Minister Supratman explained the reasons behind President Prabowo’s decision.

“The consideration in this granting is definitely for the sake of the nation and state,” he said.

He also added that one of the considerations was the President’s intention to foster a spirit of unity among all elements of society. According to Supratman, national development requires collaboration across all political groups.

“Of course, with the subjective consideration that the individual also has achievements or contributions to Indonesia,” said the Gerindra Party politician.

The amnesty was not limited to political cases. It also applied to prisoners convicted of other offenses, including insulting the president and non-violent acts of rebellion in Papua.
