TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s cold-rolled stainless steel (CRSS) products have officially been cleared from the threat of anti-dumping duties by Turkey, the Ministry of Trade confirmed.
Trade Minister Budi Santoso said the decision reflects the competitiveness of Indonesia’s national industry and the government’s effective oversight of international trade.
He expressed optimism that the outcome would boost confidence in Indonesian stainless steel products in global markets.
“The Indonesian government actively monitored the 18-month investigation to ensure that Turkish authorities applied objective dumping calculation rules in line with international standards,” Budi said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
The investigation ultimately favored Indonesia, confirming that its stainless steel products are traded fairly. The decision also opens opportunities to expand exports to Turkey and neighboring regions.
Turkish authorities halted the anti-dumping investigation on December 27, 2025, without imposing any trade safeguards on Indonesian products.
The termination is documented in the Final Anti-Dumping Investigation Report released by Turkey’s Anti-Dumping and Subsidies Bureau, which concluded that imports of CRSS from Indonesia were at a non-significant dumping level (de minimis) and did not harm Turkey’s domestic industry.
The anti-dumping probe, initiated on June 28, 2024, covered CRSS imports from both Indonesia and China. While the investigation initially found some indications of dumping, the volume was below the threshold and did not affect domestic industry conditions in Turkey.
Tommy Andana, Acting Director General of Foreign Trade at the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, attributed the success to Indonesian businesses’ full cooperation during the investigation.
“The active role of national manufacturers in providing accurate data shows that Indonesia’s industry has strong governance and is ready to compete fairly in the global market,” Tommy said.
Reza Pahlevi Chairul, Director of Trade Safeguards at the Ministry of Trade, noted that anti-dumping investigations often intersect with raw material market distortions, which some countries use to adjust calculation methods.
“In this case, Turkish authorities applied the dumping calculation objectively, based on company data, without factoring in market distortions. This approach deserves appreciation,” he said.
Indonesia’s CRSS exports to Turkey have shown strong growth in recent years, rising from US$21.9 million in 2020 to US$108.6 million in 2024. As of the third quarter of 2025, exports totaled US$66.2 million, underscoring the sector’s expanding global presence.
