TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is set to embark on a roadshow in China to promote yuan-denominated debt instruments, Panda Bond, on June 16, 2026.
As confirmed by Purbaya after a meeting at the parliament building on Monday, the minister said there is not yet any set target for the meeting, but he is scheduled to meet at least 15 investors during his trip.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Financing and Risk Management (DJPPR) of the Ministry of Finance, Suminto, explained that this visit is also part of the non-deal roadshow that will be conducted regularly. As this would be the Panda Bonds' debut issuance, promotion is necessary, Suminto said on Monday.
"We need to meet with investors in mainland China, as well as meet with authorities," he said.
Among those scheduled to meet with Purbaya, he added, are Agriculture Bank of China, Zhong Ou Asset Management, and ICBC Wealth Management. The government will also appoint several financial institutions to be Joint Lead Managers (JLM) to arrange the distribution of Panda Bonds.
The plan to issue bonds in denominations other than the US dollar is part of Indonesia's financing diversification effort. Earlier, Purbaya had stated that this measure is part of the debt strategy amid the continued weakening of the rupiah against the US dollar.
After marketing the bonds in China, Purbaya will further diversify the market into other countries. The Minister of Finance will also conduct a roadshow in the UK and meet with several investors in Europe.
The Ministry of Finance had previously issued Government Bonds (SUN) in the Chinese Renminbi, namely Dim Sum Bonds, on October 23, 2025. These bonds were traded outside mainland China, such as in Hong Kong. Quoting the DJPPR page, there were two series of Dim Sum Bonds issued, namely RICNH1030 with a tenor of 5 years and RICNH1035 with a tenor of 10 years.
