TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Taxation at the Ministry of Finance has collected Rp11.48 trillion from tax defaulters as of November 19, 2025. Director General of Taxation Bimo Wijayanto stated that this figure demonstrates significant progress in the effort to collect debts from the 200 taxpayers with the largest arrears.
"There has been a significant increase in the last week, from last Friday to Wednesday (November 19, 2025), amounting to Rp1.3 trillion. So, the total is now Rp11.48 trillion," said Bimo during the State Budget press conference on Thursday, November 20, 2025, as reported by Antara.
Previously, the government aimed to recover Rp50–60 trillion from these 200 tax defaulters. For this year specifically, the government set a target of Rp20 trillion.
Beyond focusing on collecting this year's arrears, the Tax DG has also begun preparing strategies to secure tax revenue for 2026. By the end of this year, the Directorate will maximize all available methods, including exploring tax potential, exchanging internal data with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, and finalizing data for audits and law enforcement.
Regarding law enforcement, the Tax DG will utilize a "multi-door" approach involving various law enforcement agencies, combining charges related to tax crimes, corruption, and money laundering. The government will also optimize measures that can be completed in 2025 before the year ends.
Additionally, entering 2026, the Tax DG will strengthen electronic service systems, including the use of business processes developed through the CoreTax platform. The focus will also shift to improving the supervision of installment payments, current-year tax obligations, and compliance testing from the previous year.
Bimo emphasized that the Tax DG will optimize data-based intensification and extensification to avoid the criticism of "hunting in a zoo" (targeting only existing, compliant taxpayers).
"Of course, we will start implementing policies to expand the tax base. Whether this will be done through electronic systems or other digital transactions, we will proceed according to the leadership's directions," he said.
