TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Coordinator Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) met with Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen in Jakarta on Monday, October 27, 2025. The meeting focused on opportunities for collaboration between the two countries in the areas of renewable energy, water management, waste management, and the development of sustainable smart cities.

In addition to these three sectors, the meeting also addressed the development of education and human resources, as Finland is known for having one of the world's best curricula. "Finland can share valuable insights as Indonesia strengthens its programs," Agus said in a written statement quoted on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

During the meeting, Agus discussed the development of the Infrastructure Project Facilitation Office (IPFO) as an integrated service that connects the government, investors, and supporting partners for national project financing. Indonesia's infrastructure needs for the next five years are estimated to reach around US$640 billion (Rp10.638 quadrillion).

According to Agus, the IPFO can address these financing needs through collaboration with various parties. In front of the Finnish foreign minister, he advocated for creative financing mechanisms to ensure every investment has a real impact and benefits the community. "Indonesia is open for business and investment," Agus stated.

The IPFO was established on October 21, 2025. At the inauguration, Agus explained that the office is the government's response to the challenges of infrastructure development in Indonesia, particularly regarding bureaucratic obstacles and regulatory overlaps.

The Chair of the Democratic Party referred to the IPFO as playing a role in bridging public and private partnerships. The government has partnered with PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI) and PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (PT PII) to help mitigate investment risks and strengthen investor confidence.
