TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The BWF World Tour Super 500 Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2026 is set to return to Istora Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta from January 20 to 25. The event serves as both a top-tier competition and an effort to revive public pride in national badminton.
The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) President Fadil Imran stated that the Indonesia Masters holds strategic significance as a stage for elite achievement and social interaction. "The Daihatsu Indonesia Masters is not just a tournament. It is part of the identity of Indonesian badminton that reflects sportsmanship, fighting spirit, and fair play," Fadil said in an official statement on Tuesday.
He noted that hosting the tournament at Istora GBK carries historical and emotional weight. The unique crowd support distinguishes Indonesia within the badminton world. "The atmosphere of Istora is the legacy of Indonesian badminton. Positive and ethical public support is not only energy for the athletes, but also demonstrates our maturity as a nation of sports enthusiasts," Fadil said.
He added that the Indonesia Masters 2026 aligns with PBSI’s vision to make badminton a primary source of national joy. The tournament aims to inspire younger generations to embrace the sport as part of a healthy, successful lifestyle. "This event is part of the process of building a strong badminton ecosystem, from elite athletes to early-age training, to public involvement. Achievement and pride should grow together," he said.
Organizing Committee Chairperson Achmad Budiharto mentioned that the tournament is designed to rekindle public enthusiasm. "Istora GBK is the grand home of Indonesian badminton. This is where history, spirit, and achievements come together. We present Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2026 as a celebration of badminton that can be felt by all levels of society," he said.
In addition to the matches, the committee is preparing entertainment and activities outside the arena accessible for free. "We embrace the concept of an inclusive people's party. The public can come, feel the atmosphere of Istora, and enjoy entertainment with their families. Hopefully, badminton truly becomes everyone's own," Achmad said.
The committee ensures all event aspects are ready, from the arena and athlete facilities to spectator security. "Coordination with all stakeholders continues to ensure professional organization and provide the best experience for both athletes and spectators," he said.
