TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, have stated that they have found the remains of another hostage in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, and will hand them over to Israel if conditions permit.

"It (the Qassam Brigades) had located the remains of an Israeli hostage and would hand it over today when field conditions permit," the statement from the Al-Qassam Brigades said on Sunday, as reported by Anadolu.

The Qassam Brigades warned that any new Israeli escalation of attacks "will hinder search, digging and recovery operations" of the remains of hostages still in Gaza.

"This would delay Israel’s recovery of its dead," they emphasized.

The Israeli army launched air strikes in the southern city of Rafah and the central city of Al-Zawayda on Sunday despite a ceasefire agreement with Hamas.

Hamas has released 20 hostages and Israeli prisoners who are still alive and handed over the bodies of 13 other prisoners in exchange for nearly 2,000 detainees and hostages, as well as Palestinians, based on the ceasefire agreement.

The agreement was reached on October 8, based on a phased plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. The first phase included the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The plan also included the rebuilding of Gaza and the formation of a new governance mechanism without Hamas.

Since October 2023, Israeli genocide has killed more than 68,100 Palestinian civilians and injured over 170,200, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.

Earlier on the same day, Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the Israeli military to take "decisive action" against several targets belonging to the Palestinian resistance groups in the Gaza Strip.

The order was issued following claims of an attack by Hamas on Israeli forces in the Palestinian enclave.

These latest developments come amid a ceasefire agreed upon by both warring parties and enforced last week.
