TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The national flag carrier PT Garuda Indonesia projects to operate around 120 aircraft by 2030. CEO Wamildan Tsani is optimistic about the target, following the Rp6.65 trillion shareholder loan from Indonesia's new sovereign wealth fund, Danantara.
"Garuda Indonesia projects to operate around 120 aircraft in the next 5 years," said Wamildan in Jakarta, Tuesday, June 25, 2025, adding that 2026 is expected to become a turning point for the airline due to Danantara's funding.
This move is designed to strengthen the airline's position as a major player in air transportation. Additionally, the partnership with Danantara will drive the acceleration of Garuda Indonesia's performance as a strong and highly competitive national flag carrier.
The partnership with Danantara will also ensure Garuda Indonesia's optimal contribution to inclusive and sustainable economic growth. The effort is focused on performance acceleration and network expansion to strengthen competitiveness and optimize production tools.
"We are optimistic that we will record positive net income," Wildan said, referring to the partnership with Daya Anagata Nusantara, or Danantara.
"And this will be part of the company's operational improvement and optimization," he added.
Wamildan emphasized that the strategic partnership between Danantara and Garuda Indonesia was prepared based on a comprehensive and in-depth study that prioritizes good governance principles, including the aspects of transparency and accountability.
