TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The career journey of G-Dragon—the musician known as a K-pop icon—is reportedly being adapted into a documentary film produced for Disney+.
According to a Korea Herald report on Monday, Sept. 1, 2026, as cited by Antara, an industry source stated that the project will trace G-Dragon's influence on the K-pop industry while exploring his career as a solo artist and his role as a member of the group BIGBANG.
"Production of the G-Dragon documentary for Disney+ is currently underway. The production team has even begun reaching out to people in G-Dragon's circle since July," the source said.
The source also noted that the documentary's release timing would depend on BIGBANG's ongoing world tour, which celebrates the group's 20th anniversary.
A representative for Disney+ Korea stated that they "do not yet have an official statement to share" regarding the news of the G-Dragon documentary.
Previously, Disney and G-Dragon collaborated on a project involving the K-pop icon's fashion label, Peaceminusone, and the film Toy Story last July.
Currently, BIGBANG—comprising members G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung—is embarking on a tour titled "XX: Cosmos," which kicked off at Goyang Stadium in South Korea on August 21.
The "XX: Cosmos" tour will span 33 shows across 19 cities in North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia. Jakarta is among the tour stops, with the concert scheduled for January 16, 2027.
