TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, mentioned that his ministry is striving to reduce the Cost of Hajj Implementation (BPIH) in 2026, per President Prabowo Subianto's directive. The House Commission VIII today held a working meeting to discuss the hajj cost in 2026.
According to Dahnil, the BPIH design must be finalized swiftly in preparation for 2026 hajj season.
"Today we will discuss hajj cost," said Dahnil on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the parliamentary complex, adding that it will be discussed with the House of Representatives through a working committee.
"The president's (Prabowo) order must be implemented, and we will strive to do so," Dahnil added.
The House of Representatives, along with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, has started discussing the implementation of the 2026 hajj.
"Today's discussion is about the BPIH, the cost of implementation. Last year, the cost was around Rp96 million per individual, reduced by subsidies from BPKH (Hajj Financial Management Agency) to around Rp54 million," said Commission VIII member from the Golkar Faction, Aprozi Alam, on Monday.
The House committee on religious affairs will hold several meeting to discuss hajj implementation, including talks with the Minister of Hajj and Hajj Working Committee meetings.
"The working meeting with the Ministry of Hajj focuses on the cost," Aprozi stated. "While the working committee will delve into the specifics, including the measures undertaken by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah regarding this implementation, and how far is the preparation."
President Prabowo Subianto earlier instructed to lower the cost of hajj for Indonesian pilgrims.
"I request for the hajj cost to continues to decrease. This can be achieved through efficiency and a clean implementation," Prabowo said during the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace, Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Monday, October 20, 2025. This session's agenda coincided with the one-year administration of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
