TEMPO.CO, JakartaBTS' Jungkook has donated 1 billion (approximately Rp11.2 billion) to support efforts in combating forest fires in the Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam regions.

The donation was announced by the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association on Friday, March 28, 2025, marking the largest individual contribution towards the fires that broke out on March 22.

According to allkpop, Jungkook's donation is allocated into two parts: 500 million will go towards emergency aid and supplies for residents who lost their homes, while the other 500 million will be used to enhance awareness and improve working conditions for firefighters battling the blaze.

“I hope my donation will be of help to the people who are going through tough times,” Jungkook said in a press release, as quoted from Korea JoongAng Daily.

“I hope the victims and firefighters will return to their everyday lives soon.”

Prior to Jungkook's donation, three other BTS members also made contributions, each donating 100 million.

J-Hope and RM donated to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association, while Suga donated to the Korean Red Cross.

Jungkook's substantial donation complements his previous charity efforts. In 2023, he donated 1 billion to the Seoul National University Children's Hospital to support medical care for children from low-income families and the hospital's integrated care initiative.

Aside from the BTS members, BIGBANG’s leader and rapper, G-Dragon, also personally donated 300 million to support efforts in combating the ongoing forest fires. His contribution was made through the JusPeace Foundation, a non-governmental organization he founded in August last year.

According to G-Dragon’s agency, Galaxy Corporation, the donation was sourced from ticket sales for his upcoming world tour, Ubermensch, set to kick off in Goyang, Gyeonggi, on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

“I hope that the displaced people who were affected by the unexpected wildfires will recover from the damage soon,” said G-Dragon.

He also expressed his gratitude to the firefighters and relief workers who continue to battle the fires and assist the victims on site.

Prior to this, the boy band Seventeen also donated 1 billion, followed by JYP Entertainment with a donation of 500 million. Singer and actor Cha Eun-woo also made a donation of 100 million through the Korean Red Cross.

“I'm sorry to the affected people who are going through hard times due to the unexpected wildfires and thank those who are trying their best to extinguish the fires and help the displaced victims," said Eun-woo.
