TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva hopes to establish new cooperation with Indonesia, particularly in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), data centralization, and technology. He conveyed this commitment during his state visit to Indonesia on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto.
"I have come to renew the strategic partnership, forge new agreements, not only in bilateral trade but also to invest in new areas, such as artificial intelligence, data centralization, and to deepen scientific and technological relations," said President Lula da Silva.
Trade, Education, and Global Alignment
Furthermore, Lula da Silva aims to enhance university relations between Indonesia and Brazil and seeks balanced trade between the two nations. "This should be a mutually beneficial trade policy. Indonesia is a strategic partner for Brazil," he affirmed.
He also expressed gratitude for President Prabowo's visit to Brazil in July 2025 and welcomed Indonesia's potential membership in the BRICS grouping (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa). He believes Indonesia could become a strategic partner to strengthen developing countries.
"I am very happy to be here with high hopes and a strong desire to build relations between Brazil and Indonesia," he added.
Prabowo Welcomes Visit and Aligns Priorities
Meanwhile, President Prabowo welcomed Lula da Silva's return visit to Indonesia, recalling the warm reception he received in Brazil in July 2025.
Prabowo stated that he follows and admires Lula da Silva's policies, noting that Brazil's priorities align with Indonesia's, particularly regarding the welfare of their citizens.
"You have the same interests, big interests, through the welfare of your people. This is my priority. My main priority is the welfare of the Indonesian people," Prabowo said.
