
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most parts of Indonesia will experience rain of varying intensity, ranging from light rain to thunderstorms on Monday.
BMKG forecaster Sastia Frista, in a weather forecast broadcast on the BMKG YouTube channel and monitored in Jakarta on Monday morning, stated that light rain is predicted for several cities on Sumatra Island, namely Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Padang, Jambi, Palembang, and Bandar Lampung.
On Java, similar conditions are potential in Serang, Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, and Bandung.
Light rain is also predicted for Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Samarinda, Gorontalo, Makassar, Kendari, Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya.
Moderate rain is predicted for several areas, including Medan, North Sumatra; Yogyakarta; and Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan.
Moderate rain is also potential in Palu, Central Sulawesi; Mamuju, West Sulawesi; and Merauke, South Papua.
BMKG also warned of potential rain accompanied by lightning in several areas, such as Bengkulu; Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Islands; Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Denpasar, Bali; and Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara.
Clear to partly cloudy conditions are forecast for Manado, North Sulawesi; Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara; and Ternate, North Maluku.
BMKG urges the public to remain vigilant for the potential for extreme weather.
