TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has forecasted cloudy skies and rain across Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) on Friday, January 16, 2026.

The public is advised to prepare for rainfall throughout the day, coinciding with Isra Miraj, an Islamic holiday commemorating the Prophet Muhammad’s night journey and ascension to heaven.

According to BMKG, the morning period from 07:00 AM to 01:00 PM Western Indonesia Time (WIB) will see thick cloud cover over most parts of Jabodetabek.

Light rain is expected in the Kepulauan Seribu islands, as well as across Jakarta’s five administrative cities—North, Central, West, East, and South—along with Tangerang City and Bekasi Regency.

Rain intensity is forecast to increase to light-to-moderate levels around midday, affecting the entirety of Jakarta, Bogor City and Regency, Depok City, Bekasi City, and the greater Tangerang metropolitan area.

From afternoon to evening, between 01:00 PM and 07:00 PM, the potential for rain continues. BMKG predicts moderate rain in North, Central, West, and East Jakarta, as well as Tangerang Regency, while light rain is expected in South Jakarta, Kepulauan Seribu, and surrounding buffer areas, including Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, Tangerang City, and South Tangerang.

The agency has also issued an early warning for potential thunderstorms and strong winds in parts of Jabodetabek during the afternoon and evening. Surface winds are expected from the west to northwest at speeds ranging from 10 to 40 kilometers per hour.

Air temperatures in the region are generally forecast between 24 and 28 degrees Celsius with humidity levels of 78 to 94 percent. Bogor City and Regency may experience cooler conditions, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 24 degrees Celsius.
