TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Priguna Anugerah Pratama, a doctor in the Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS) at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad), is accused of committing sexual assault under the pretense of conducting allergy tests.
The anesthesiology resident drugged the victim before carrying out the assault.
"The perpetrator's reason was to perform an anesthesia analysis. Secondly, the perpetrator's reason was to conduct an allergy test on the victim for the anesthetic drug," said Commissioner General Surawan, Director of General Crime Investigation (Dirkrimum) at the West Java Regional Police, in a text message when contacted on Friday, April 11, 2025.
In a recent update, the West Java Regional Police revealed that two additional victims have come forward with reports of sexual violence at Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSUP) in Bandung.
The suspect, Priguna, 31, is the same individual accused in these cases, with the assaults occurring on March 10 and 16.
"Two victims reported to the hospital, their statements have been requested," said Surawan.
The two victims are 21 and 31 years old. They are currently being examined by the West Java Regional Police as additional victims.
Previously, it was revealed that Priguna had raped a family member of a patient at RSHS Bandung last month. The victim, with the initials FH, is 21 years old and is a child accompanying their sick father at RSHS Bandung.
Surawan stated that Priguna faces a heavier punishment than before. The West Java Regional Police is charging Priguna with multiple articles, including Article 64 of the Criminal Code about repeated offenses, which could lead to a harsher sentence.
"The perpetrator faces a maximum sentence of 17 years in prison," he said when met by reporters in Bandung on Friday, as quoted by Antara.
Previously, the West Java Regional Police said that Priguna could be sentenced to 12 years in prison. The legal basis used is Article 6 letter (c) of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes or the UU TPKS.
This article regulates punishment for those who commit physical sexual harassment. The punishment in Article 6 letter (c) is intended for those who abuse their position or exploit someone's vulnerability to engage in intercourse or lewd acts with them.
The convict can be sentenced to a maximum of 12 years in prison and/or a fine of up to Rp300 million.
The case is currently in the investigation stage. The police will conduct DNA tests on the evidence obtained from the crime scene, as well as forensic psychological testing on the perpetrator.
Surawan estimated that the investigation process of this case will be completed within the next month.
"We will try to do it quickly. Hopefully, within the next month, it will be completed," he said when contacted on April 9, 2025.
