TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - There are 10,278 job vacancies offered by 42 companies in the Job Fair 2025 event at Kiara Artha Park, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, on November 19 to 20, 2025. The job fair is one of the efforts made by the Bandung City Government to reduce the unemployment rate and expand employment opportunities for the public.
The Head of the Bandung Manpower Office, Andri Darusman, targets a decrease in the open unemployment rate to 6 percent. According to the data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Bandung City, the unemployment rate at the end of 2024 reached 7.4 percent.
"God willing, through various efforts that we do together with the stakeholders, we want to continue to reduce the unemployment rate and improve the human resources quality in Bandung," said Andri in his statement on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
According to Andri, job fairs have proven to be quite effective in reducing the unemployment rate in Bandung. He mentioned that the job fair held by the Bandung City Government in June 2025 recorded 3,380 job seekers in attendance, with 1,443 applicants who successfully passed the selection process and were employed by the companies they applied to.
As a result, Andri targets a minimum of 50 percent, or 5,139 applicants, to be absorbed and get jobs both in domestic and foreign companies. The job fair is conducted virtually. Job seekers only need to scan the barcode at the company's booth to access and apply for job vacancies directly.
Andri stated that this job fair is connected to Bandung's manpower application, namely the Bandung Integrated Manpower Management Application or BIMMA.
"The New BIMMA application provides 30 manpower services, ranging from Siap Kerja ID account registration, job training, placement facilitation, to industrial relations services. Everything can be accessed online," he said.
The Chairperson of the Bandung Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), Asep Mulyadi, stated that the event was an important momentum that brings job seekers and companies together. "This job fair is a meeting place for companies in need of excellent human resources and job seekers who truly need employment. Often, the two parties do not meet," he said.
Asep expressed hope that the job fair event could be expanded to the regional level, such as at the sub-district level, as many residents need jobs but do not have access to the information.
"If the economy improves and companies stabilize, the number of layoffs will certainly decrease. On the other hand, vocational schools and educational institutions must prepare programs according to the needs of the industry, including tourism, culinary, and hospitality, which are booming in Bandung," he added.
