TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Iraqi national team will face the Norwegian national team in a Group I match at the 2026 World Cup, a battle between the two countries' strikers, Aymen Hussein and Erling Haaland, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Tuesday local time.
Aymen Hussein is Iraq's prolific striker and helped the Lions of Mesopotamia advance to the 2026 World Cup finals, according to FIFA.
During qualifying, Aymen Hussein scored a total of nine goals in 16 matches, including one in the confederation playoffs.
Meanwhile, Haaland was also a key figure in Norway's successful return to the World Cup, scoring 16 goals in eight qualifying matches.
Overall, Iraqi coach Graham Arnold fielded his best squad, using a 4-4-2 formation with Jalal Hassan in goal.
The back four was made up of Hussein Ali, Zaid Tahseen, Akam Hashim, and Merchas Doski, while the midfield was filled by Ibrahim Bayesh, Amir Al Ammari, Zaid Ismael, and Ali Jasim. Iraq's attacking duo was Hussein and Ali Al Hamadi.
Norway also fielded their best players, using a 4-3-3 formation with Orjan Nyland as goalkeeper, and a back four of David Möller-Wolfe, Torbjorn Heggem, Kristoffer Ajer, and Julian Ryerson.
The midfield three consisted of Fredrik Aursnes, Sander Berge, and Martin Odegaard, while the front three was entrusted to Antonio Nusa, Haaland, and Alexander Sorloth.
