TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) deployed 161,000 joint personnel for security and services during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return journey. Security measures for Operation Ketupat will be implemented from March 13 to 25, 2026.
"There are 161,000 joint personnel, consisting of Polri, TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), relevant agencies, and all stakeholders," said National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Pabowo during a coordination meeting on Operation Ketupat on Monday, March 2, 2026.
Polri has prepared several traffic engineering measures for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return journey. Some of these measures include one-way traffic, contraflow traffic, rest area arrangements, and restrictions on three-axle vehicles.
According to Sigit, the traffic engineering strategy is still considered effective in alleviating potential traffic congestion due to increased vehicle volumes during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return journey.
"Issuing warnings and eliminating ticketing, delaying traffic at crossings, and diverting traffic are certainly some of the measures we will implement," said Sigit.
According to him, approximately Rp137 trillion will flow from the central government to the regions during the 2026 Eid homecoming and return flows. "We certainly hope that the security measures implemented in Operation Ketupat 2026 will be maximally successful, so that the multiplier effect on the regional economy will also be significant," he said.
Sigit stated that this year's Operation Ketupat carries the slogan "Safe Homecoming and Happy Families." This operation, he said, will focus on preemptive and preventive measures before enforcing the law.
