TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha, confirmed the discovery of the body of a young diplomat from his office in a rented room in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta.
Judha identified the deceased as Arya Daru Panguyunan, a young functional diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who was responsible for handling cases involving Indonesian citizens implicated in criminal matters. Arya is survived by his wife and two children.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses deep condolences to the victim's family," Judha said when met at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
Judha did not provide further details about the cause of Arya’s death, stating that the matter had been fully handed over to the police. "For details, you can inquire with the police," he said.
Separately, Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro confirmed that the investigation into Arya’s death is still ongoing.
He said that based on the initial findings at the scene, Arya was discovered lifeless, wrapped in a blanket on the bed. "The victim's head was tied with tape," Susatyo said.
He added that the body has been transferred to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. "Further developments will be announced later," he said.
