TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, extended their congratulations to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on the occasion of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day.
In a congratulatory message reported by Xinhua and quoted by Antara, Xi praised Indonesia’s progress over the past eight decades, noting that the country has made remarkable achievements in development and plays an increasingly important role both regionally and globally.
This year also marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia. Xi said the bilateral partnership has made significant strides and that the traditional friendship between the two countries has continued to grow stronger.
He recalled his two meetings with Prabowo last year, during which both leaders reached key agreements to build a China–Indonesia community with a shared future, aimed at enhancing regional and global influence.
Xi said he values the growth of China–Indonesia relations and expressed his readiness to work with Prabowo to further advance cooperation.
He emphasized hopes that the shared-future partnership will support the modernization of both countries and contribute to regional and global peace, stability, and development.
Prime Minister Li Qiang also sent a congratulatory message, describing China and Indonesia as close neighbors separated by the sea and as partners bound by a common future.
As reported by Antara, Li highlighted his official visit to Indonesia in May, where he held warm and productive talks with Prabowo. He said China is prepared to use the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to deepen strategic cooperation, particularly in the “five pillars” of politics, economy, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, maritime affairs, and security.
According to Li, this cooperation will help elevate the China–Indonesia community with a shared future to a higher level, bringing greater benefits to both nations.
