TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued early weather warnings for multiple regions across the country, citing the potential for heavy to very heavy rainfall from November 14 to 20, 2025.
The alerts cover parts of West Java, East Java, East Nusa Tenggara, Papua, and the Papuan Highlands.
According to BMKG’s Public Meteorology Directorate, atmospheric conditions continue to support the widespread development of rain clouds in the coming week.
This is driven by strong inflows of moist air from both the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, which are enhancing water vapor supply across the Indonesian archipelago.
BMKG is also monitoring cyclonic circulation patterns that are creating areas of wind convergence over large portions of the country.
Combined with adequate humidity and strong local atmospheric instability, these conditions are increasing the likelihood of convective cloud formation.
The influence of dry air masses from both hemispheres is also contributing to unstable weather, particularly in the Riau Islands, southern Sumatra, and the southern waters of Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara.
Below are the regions placed under Alert status for the week, categorized by rainfall and strong wind potential:
Early Weather Warning: November 14–16
Heavy to Very Heavy Rain: Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, North Maluku, Central Papua, the Papuan Highlands, and Papua.

Heavy to Very Heavy Rain: West Sumatra, West Java, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), the Papuan Highlands, and Papua.
Strong Winds: West Sumatra, Riau, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Lampung, Banten, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, Gorontalo, North Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku, Southwest Papua, West Papua, Central Papua, and South Papua.
BMKG advises residents in affected areas to stay alert to the risk of flash floods, landslides, lightning, and falling trees, and to monitor regular updates from local authorities.
