TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Saudi Arabian government has threatened to impose fines of up to 20,000 riyals on foreign nationals who are in Mecca and other holy sites without a Hajj visa. The fine will be imposed from Zulkaidah 1-Zulhijah 14 or from May 29 to June 10, 2025.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday, 10 May 2025, as quoted by the SPA news agency. In addition to the fine, foreign nationals who violate the Hajj regulations will also be deported to their home countries and banned from entering Saudi Arabia for 10 years.
As reported by Antara, the Saudi Arabian government urges all visitors to comply with the Hajj regulations for the safety of the pilgrims and the smooth implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage.
Saudi Hajj security officers have arrested an Indian national who attempted to smuggle four people into Mecca in an ambulance to perform the Hajj without official permission. They were then handed over to the authorities to face punishment under the law.
In Riyadh, local police arrested a woman from Egypt who committed fraud through social media by offering entry permits to Mecca as Hajj pilgrims. The woman has been detained and handed over to the public prosecutor's office to face legal charges.
