TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian defender Rizky Ridho of Persija Jakarta has been nominated for the prestigious FIFA Puskas Award 2025, placing him among the world’s top goal scorers recognized for exceptional strikes.
FIFA announced the nominations in an official release on Friday, November 14, 2025, highlighting Ridho alongside internationally renowned players such as Lamine Yamal (Barcelona) and Declan Rice (Arsenal).
Ridho’s nominated goal came during the 2024/2025 Indonesian Liga 1 match between Persija Jakarta and Arema FC on March 9. The defender scored from long range, noticing Arema goalkeeper Lucas Frigeri positioned too far off his line.
The ball soared directly into the net, earning acclaim as one of the season’s most spectacular goals. The strike had previously been recognized as the Best Goal of the 2024/2025 Liga 1 season.
Joining Ridho on the Puskas shortlist are some of football’s top talents, including Lamine Yamal (Barcelona) and Declan Rice (Arsenal). This year’s list features 11 nominated goals in total.
FIFA also revealed the Marta Award 2025 nominations, which honor the best goal in women’s football. Among the 11 nominees is Brazilian legend Marta, once again recognized for her goal for Orlando Pride.
The winners of both awards will be determined through a voting system on FIFA.com, open until midnight local time on December 3, 2025. Votes are split evenly between fans (50%) and a panel of FIFA Legends (50%). Fans rank their top three choices, awarding five points to their first choice down to one point for their third.
The winners will be announced at the FIFA Awards ceremony, scheduled for early next year. These nominations follow last week’s release of contenders for FIFA’s Best Player, Best Coach, and Best Goalkeeper awards in both the men’s and women’s categories.
