TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to be the inspecting officer at the central level Pancasila Birth Anniversary ceremony, today, Monday, June 1, 2026. The ceremony will be held at Pancasila Building Field, Taman Pejambon Street, Jakarta, and will start at 10:00 AM WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
"The President of the Republic of Indonesia will be present and act as the Inspecting Officer," said the Head of the Indonesian Ideology Pancasila Development Agency (BPIP) Yudian Wahyudi, in Jakarta, on Friday, May 29, 2026.
Pancasila Birth Anniversary 2026 carries the theme 'Pancasila Unites the Nation, Foundation of World Peace'. The theme emphasizes the relevance of Pancasila values in maintaining national integrity and as a response to the creation of world peace. "The logo used in this year's commemoration is our national emblem, the Garuda Pancasila," said Yudian.
BPIP has invited all former presidents and vice presidents to attend today's Pancasila Birth Anniversary ceremony. The 5th President Megawati Soekarnoputri, who is also the Chair of BPIP's Board of Trustees, is reported to attend the ceremony. The Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle's Central Leadership Council, Djarot Syaiful Hidayat, indicated that Megawati is likely to accept BPIP's invitation.
"God willing, she will attend, just pray, yes, hopefully she has the opportunity to attend," said Djarot when met during the technical guidance activities of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle for members of the Regional Representative Council in North Jakarta, on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
The former Governor of Jakarta stated that PDIP will also hold a ceremony to commemorate Pancasila Day at the party's school in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta. Therefore, according to him, Megawati's participation can only be confirmed when the day arrives.
"But it is clear that the party will also hold a Pancasila Day ceremony at the Party School on June 1. So we'll see tomorrow," said Djarot.
During last year's Pancasila Birth Anniversary commemoration, President Prabowo Subianto and the Chairperson of PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri both attended the commemoration at Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta on Monday, June 2, 2025. On that day, Prabowo acted as the inspecting officer.
The ceremony was also attended by, among others, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka; the 6th Vice President of RI, the late Try Sutrisno; and the 10th and 12th Vice President of RI, Jusuf Kalla.
At that time, Megawati stood between President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran before the ceremony began. There was also a moment of familiarity between Prabowo and Megawati captured in the waiting room of Pancasila Building.
One of them was when they sat at the oval table in the room. Prabowo joked with Megawati, who was sitting across from him, to lighten the mood. "Madam, you look a bit slim. Oh my, how extraordinary. You're slim. Your diet has been successful," said Prabowo.
Hearing that, Megawati seemed to agree. "Oh yes, a successful slim diet," she said.
